Karthik Bala Elected to
The Strong’s Board of Trustees

The Strong is pleased to announce that Karthik Bala, CEO of Velan Ventures and Velan Studios, has been elected to the museum’s Board of Trustees. Bala and his brother, Guha Bala, co-founded the company Vicarious Visions as teenagers in Rochester. They sold the company to Activision (NASDAQ: ATVI) and developed multi-billion dollar game franchises such as Guitar Hero and Skylanders. After 25 years, the brothers left Vicarious Visions in 2016 to co-found Velan Ventures, an innovation investment company that supports video game and game technology start-ups as well as Velan Studios, a company dedicated to experimental games and the discovery of new ways to play.

Bala holds degrees in Computer Science and Psychology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management. He lives in Albany with his spouse, Shoba, and two children.
